University Central Library The library, established in 1988, is well functioning totally computerized library. Having the collection of 43000 books; 2000 Ph.D. Theses; 176 current periodicals; 10000 reports of government departments, universities, other departments; 15000 back / old volumes of periodicals; 150 complimentary titles; Reference Volume 3000; Audio-vedio collections 35; CD 3000; . It is maintaining old newspapers of three years. The library serves to 900 members, including research scholars, faculty members and hundreds of faculty members, etc. coming from affiliated colleges and other institutions. It is spread over in 4847 sq. ft. area in three floors, out of which 1500 sq. ft. is only for reading area. The library has 105 reading seats, 12 research cubicles. The library is strong in the collection of computer science, environment studies, chemistry, botany, mathematics, microbiology, food & nutrition, vedic studies, political science, history, economics, management studies in addition to other subjects. The library provides reference service, referral service, special bibliographical service, inter-library loan, Xerox services in addition to the normal reading and lending services. All the sections of the library are fully computerized since June 2003, succeeding the U.G.C.'s INFLIBNET program of library automation. The library network works on MS-SQL server, Windows 2000 server, Windows 2000 professional and the SOUL library housekeeping software. The readers are well facilitated with On-Line Catalogue. The library is also succeeded for UGC-INFONET project for setting-up 256 kbps broadband VSAT connectivity via ERNET India. The project is for connectivity amongst the universities, campus-wide networking and hosting databases to academic community. |
